Tomorrow,
Saturday 6 June, marks the official launch of the
9th Edition of the Cinema Damàre Castiglioncello Film Festival.
Nine editions since we decided to bring
cinema by the sea for everyone. Nine summers packed with
immense emotions under the stars - evenings that seem to have
flown by, as fast as the wind.
Indeed, because
speed and the passage of time are exactly what this season's opening film is all about. A movie celebrating its
10th anniversary this year, which fundamentally
changed how contemporary Italian cinema was perceived upon its release.
A decade after its debut,
Veloce come il vento (Italian Race) remains the definitive manifesto for the
rebirth of Italian genre cinema. Matteo Rovere masterfully fused a
spectacular, analogue motorsport action film - shot entirely on location in the Motor Valley without relying on digital effects - with a
visceral family drama.
Audiences were completely spellbound, captivated by the
breakthrough of Matilda De Angelis and the shocking,
David di Donatello-winning performance by Stefano Accorsi.
Today, Giulia and Loris’s tale of redemption, inspired by the true story of Carlo Capone, is
a cult classic that proved a crucial industry truth: Italy can
dare and triumph far beyond the realm of comedy, perfectly blending heart, craftsmanship, and pure adrenaline.
We look forward to seeing you at
Bagni Etruria for the
unmissable premiere of Cinema Damàre 2026.
